Vietnamese → English translation for Australian authorities

Vietnamese documents are usually issued as certified true copies (bản sao y) by a People's Committee or notary office. Australian authorities require an English translation of the whole certified copy, including the certification endorsement printed on the back or final page.

Why translations in this pair get sent back

  • Sending the front of a certified copy without the certification endorsement page.
  • Omitting the judicial record type, which determines what the certificate proves.
  • Household book pages missing for dependants listed in the application.
  • Scans where the red seal overlaps and obscures the register number.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need Phiếu lý lịch tư pháp số 1 or số 2?

That depends on the receiving body. Number 2 reports a fuller history and is commonly requested for migration purposes, but the applicant should confirm which type the authority asked for before ordering it.

Is the household book still required?

Some Australian bodies still ask for residence evidence. If the household book has been replaced by an electronic residence confirmation, the confirmation document is translated instead.
