A NAATI certified translation can be arranged entirely online: you send scans, a certified translator prepares the translation, and you receive a PDF carrying the certification statement and the translator's digital signature. No travel and, in ordinary cases, no posting of original documents. Reviewed August 2026.
Visa applications through ImmiAccount, university admissions and skills assessment portals all take uploaded files. A clean digital certified translation is easier for a case officer to read than a scan of a scan.
What the translator must see is the content of the document, not the holder. A sharp scan is sufficient for translation and certification in ordinary cases.

Online lodgement portals — including most Australian visa and assessing-authority channels — accept a digitally certified PDF from a NAATI certified translator. A flat, full-page scan or sharp photo at 300 dpi or better, with all four corners visible, in colour, and including the reverse side if anything is printed there. Cropped edges and glare over a seal are the two most common reasons we have to ask for a re-scan.
Files are used only to produce and certify your translation, shared only with the translator assigned to the job, and not published or passed to third parties. Tell us if you need files deleted after delivery and we confirm when that is done.

No. We prepare, translate and certify documents. Advice on eligibility, strategy or the merits of an application is regulated in most destinations and should come from a licensed migration agent or lawyer there.
As early as the authority's recency window allows. Re-issuing an original, legalising it and translating it are sequential steps with separate queues, and the last one cannot be compressed to cover delays in the first two.
The rule follows where the translation is produced, not where you live. Home Affairs treats translations made outside Australia differently from those made inside, and requires the translator's full name, address, telephone number and qualification details on the outside-Australia route.
